Pizza Cymbals

This pizza was made by a friend of mine. The reason why I’d like to share it is because unlike most pizza doughs which get baked in the oven, this one gets cooked on a tawa placed upside down! And it’s a covered pizza, this was something new for me from the usual pizza I know.

Ingredients: 

  • 250g white flour
  • 2 to 3 tsp milk powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 2 tsp yeast
  • 2 tsp vegetable oil
  • 175 ml warm water
  • 2tsp flour for dusting






Chopped/blended tomatoes simmer in some olive oil.
add your mixed herbs, garlic, onions +your species. 
Topping: 
You can use:
Chopped tomatoes 2 tsp tomato puree
2 tsp dried oregano
Salt and pepper 

You can add any toppings you’d like I. I could suggest some here: 
Mushrooms, mozzarella, chicken, turkey, prawns, olive oil, pineapple; red, green or yellow pepper; basil leaves

My friend opted for minced meat, green olives, parsley, soft cheese, toppings to sprinkle all over the disc shaped crust to obtain loads of flavours.
Stir fried in some oil with onions+mixed spices+parsley.

Mix the flour, milk powder and yeast
Add oil
Mix well, then
Add the water




 

Mix till the dough can be assembled and kneaded into a bill fat ball. 
It shouden’t break or tear, it’s more like elastic have fun pinching it and pulling it from the cheek hehee :) 



Half it into equally sized buns and let it rest for a bit. (10 to 15mins)


Grab a bun and flatten it round on your working counter, that’s been dusted with flower, so that you don’t have trouble with the dough sticking on it and going out of shape.





Once the dough’s flattened, swing it on the already heated tawa. And let it cook on medium fire while checking on it repeatedly. Meanwhile, spread the tomato sauce on the cooking sheet + your toppings





Flattened the other half and cover your pizza with it.

Stab it with a fork 8 times. 
(I meant pierce it or puncture it with a fork.. anyway.. make a few holes here and there all over it)

Press tight and lock the edges all around, because this is where the Big game starts! Hope your breath, slide a thin tray under  your pizza ( or anything you judge best to flip it over!!! ) NOT in the air NO! you just need to flip it over using anything flat that may help you save your pizza from opening, breaking and 'leaking' haha.

The cook got so engrossed in decorating the pizza with the toppings, she forgot the crust was being cooked underneath, hence the slightly burn patches that disfigured its features! It's still yummy though. what matters is the internal beauty! ( yeah right) but worry not, we'll do something about those freckles and dark spots. 

A quick small tidy brush of make up and TADAA!! all skin problems hidden and concealed >:-B 

Grated cheese + parsley+ black sliced olives yumm!
